What comes to your mind when you hear the word strength? Is it images of men doing Herculean feats, lifting large rocks over their heads or is it something that is more internal like taking control of a hard situation and pressing on.
Strength is both physical and mental, and these thoughts are correct, but we are missing one example of strength that goes unappreciated and in my eye’s is the greatest feat of strength one can do.
That of letting go.
We don’t think of letting go as strong, quite the opposite letting go looks a lot like giving up, which is not strong, it seems like you could not last, the situation was too big for you to handle.
Feeling in control of a situation when you are not, is not strength it is delusional. Being able to let go or ask someone for help that is strength.
What It Looks Like:
- Asking for help
- Admitting mistakes
- Asking for forgiveness
- Letting others help
These are all signs of strength, not weakness.
