Do you ever get stuck in that Wikipedia or YouTube timewarp? It always starts off with the idea of, “Oh, I wonder what movies Will Smith has been in of late.” Then you realize that Will passed up the role of playing Neo in The Matrix for the movie Wild Wild West, which if you don’t know, sucked.
And you think to yourself, “Really what was he thinking?” But then you realize that he has not really missed out on a hit movie since then so he must be doing pretty well for himself. So you decided to check the man’s net worth, because well, it’s somehow oddly interesting. Like the old MTV show Cribs where people would show off their kick ass whips and the room “Where all the magic happens”.
Finally, you look at the clock and, “Oh, shit! I just spent 3 hours looking at useless Will Smith trivia and somehow ended up looking at a picture of Ryan Reynolds eating a Chobani yogurt.”
For these 3 hours, I could have been doing a plethora of other things: making cookies, spending time with friends or my fiancée, reading, trying to solve world peace and the economic crisis. But no, I spent that time on Big Willy Style fun facts.
I am sure you’re wondering what I’m getting at and what does this have to do with fitness? Simply put, there is a price for every decision we make.
People do not realize that when it comes to starting on the quest of a healthier life there is a price for heath. It is not all positive rainbows coming down from a unicorn’s nether region. There are some major changes you will have to make and things that will cost you.
The Price for Fitness Break Down
Here are some things to consider:
The Pros and Cons
Lose Weight – Have to buy new clothes
Eating healthy – Make two meals, one for yourself and one for unsupportive family members
Eating out less – May take away from social outings
Working out – Take time away from YouTube surfing
Losing Lots of Weight – Having extra skin
Making Healthy Changes – Having to change
Getting Super Good Looking – Having to deal with people ogling your new hot bod
And the list can go on.
Getting healthy will cost you something. It’s not like the old saying “Having your cake and eating it too,” that just does not work, well, I mean it could but you won’t get very far. In reality, which is where we all happen to live, if you add something, in this case working out or eating healthy, you inevitably have to take away from some other part of your current life.
In my opinion, for whatever that is worth, my health is one of the most valuable things to me right up there with my family, friends, and my stuffed animal Geraffi. So I am willing to pay the price.
The price of health may not seem as sweet as a triple layer chocolate cake or as easy as binge watching episodes of Fuller House, but I can tell you it will be extremely satisfying.
Much Love,
JW
