There Is No Such Thing As A Balanced Life

 Balanced
We feel if we live a more balanced life we will have a more fulfilling and happy life.

I have not spent too many years on this earth, but I have found there is no such thing as balance. The scales are always tipped in one direction or another.

We want to find a work-life balance.
We want to balance our goal of eating healthy with going out with friends.
What balance falsely promises us is a life where we can have everything if we only fit it in just right. That is not reality.

You can’t be all things at all times.

What you need is more alignment.

What is alignment?

The 5 parts of alignment:

World View: It all starts with how you see the world. This is where religion and the meaning of life stuff fit in.

Values: This is based on your worldview, but what are your values? What is important to you?

Goals: Goals are what will fulfill your values and ultimately your worldview. This is the action item. Where the other two (values and worldview) are your guardrails to keep you on track.

Fulfillment: Is a result of you accomplishing goals that meet your values and worldview.

Happiness: Is a result of all the above.
If you have these 5 things aligned, you will still be happy even when your life is unbalanced.
A good example of this is parents. There is no balance in parenting but if being a good mother or father and having a family is a part of your worldview and values then even when you are out of balance with the other parts in your life you will still find fulfillment and happiness because you are accomplishing what is most important to you.

Wrapping It Up

You will not find a balance. If you are working hard toward one goal you are the opposite of balanced; you are unbalanced. But hopefully, you are unbalanced in a direction that aligns with your worldview and values. If not, you will not find fulfillment or happiness.
