Speed and quickness are attributes that are desired by all competitive athletes.
If you are an athlete or a weekend warrior that is trying to gain a quicker first step, then you have most likely stumbled upon some crazy speed and agility drills on the Youtube.
You know one like this for example:

I may be coming across as a hater of speed and agility training, but hold on. You have to be fast and agile to succeed at sport, not named Darts or Billiards. The foot speed shown in this video of Le’Veon Bell is impressive to say the least, and there is nothing wrong with this drill.
Speed is important but all these crazy drills you see on the Internet may not be right for you. There are few athletes that could do a drill like this, let alone remember how to do what at what point.
I get that some of those drills may look really cool and really hard to figure out, so the thinking is that they work better and faster than less exiting drills. I am here to tell you that in my years of training athletes this is not the case. The simplest drills have been the most successful in getting my athletes faster and more agile.
If you follow these three steps I will outline you will become fast and more agile.
